NCEA LEVEL 1 Music Course
There is no pre-requisite for the Year 11 music course, although having taken year 10 music, or participating in music instrumental tuition would be an advantage.
Students reaching the required standard on their performance instrument may enrol for credits in this Level 1 course.
Students choose a course which best fits their skill set and interest. It is recommended to design a course of 20 - 24 credits. This will depend on the individual student.

The aim is to have an holistic approach to the course. Each standard will be looked at as part of a bigger picture, as they all feed into each other.
Students may choose to have a main focus in either Making Music, Music Studies and Music Technology.
* It is important to note that although the Unit Standards (US26687, US27656) do count towards Level 1 NCEA, at present they are not eligible for subject endorsement. |
