Year 10 Music
The aims of the year 10 music course are:
- to enable students to develop literacies in the arts
- to assist students to participate in and develop a lifelong interest in music
- to broaden understanding of and involvement in music in New Zealand
Performance - Students will be required to perform both individual and group pieces within a performance context.
Composition - Techniques will be covered and ideas explored using music software on our computers and exploring ideas in ‘film music’, The Blues, Percussion music and original songs. Musical Knowledge - Elements of music theory and harmony are studied in conjunction with set musical pieces covering a wide variety of styles and eras through to contemporary works. Aural/Listening Skills - Learning how to identify elements in music through focussed listening. Music Technology – Introduction to recording skills and equipment use, and hands on work in the recording studio. |
Assessment: Internally assessed through the above areas, using NCEA marking criteria and with exams mid-year and end of year.
