LEVEL 1

Level 1 Music Technology covers all areas to do with the setup and operation of a PA (Sound Technology), and the understanding of MIDI sequencing, recording and Notation software (Music Technology). It can be studied as standalone units, or can be completed in conjunction with  AS91948 (1.1 Use music skills in a music style).

It is advisable to take these standards if students intend to focus on this stream at Level 2 and 3.



US26687 Demonstrate and apply knowledge of sound technology equipment and techniques.

This standard involves setting up a and learning the basic functions of a PA system as well as identifying the context that sound technologies are used in. Students develop an understanding of how sound equipment works and gain confidence in the operation of a PA in real life settings.
US32300 Demonstrate and apply introductory knowledge of MIDI sequencing

This standard involves creating a simple sequence (a minimum of one minute and three tracks) using the features and functions of a MIDI sequencer or digital audio workstation
US32301 Demonstrate and apply introductory knowledge of a music notation application

This standard involves students creatiing and edit a short score (a minimum of 12 bars and two staves, with two different clefs) using the features and functions of a music notation application.
